Mealey's Honored by Penndel Mental Health

Mealey's Furniture & Mattress, an award-winning family-owned retail business with stores in Bensalem, PA; Oxford Valley, PA; and Moorestown, NJ, has been honored by Penndel Mental Health for its community support, including a State Senate Resolution. The family-owned company received the “Community Development Award” from Penndel Mental Health at its first Community Awards Banquet.

Mealey's Helps Hurricane Katrina Victims

Starting with the suggestion of many Mealey’s co-workers, we collected donations to provide help to the most needed Hurricane Katrina victims.

Working together, we contacted the American Red Cross to determine the most needed supplies for the displaced families. Joining together, Mealey’s co-workers purchased the supplies and delivered much needed water, food, diapers, etc. to the National Guard Armory in Northeast Philadelphia. The Armory will transport these supplies directly to the victims in the hardest hit areas of Hurricane Katrina.

Mealey's Awards a Free Houseful of Furniture to Service Person in Need

When U.S. Marine Corps Major Sean Clements recently came home to Fairless Hills (Bucks County, PA) after a tour of duty in Iraq, including the fight in Falujah, he found that the company for which he worked had gone out of business and he was without a job!

To honor his service to our country, Major Clements, his wife Dolores, and four children (Sean, age 10; Julia, age 8; Kevin, age 7, and Kyle, age 5) are celebrating a late Independence Day with a free houseful of furniture from Mealey's.

"Major Clements was involuntarily reactivated last summer and sent to Iraq where he was stationed at Alizad Air Base, just south of Baghdad," said Kevin Mealey, co-president of the family-owned business.

"With dad still working part-time for the Marines and looking for a full-time job, money is tight for this family, yet they have been supportive and strong through it all, while living with mostly hand-me-down Mealey's invited families and friends of active duty deserving military personnel to enter a contest to win a free houseful of furniture. The Clements family was nominated by Major Clements' sister-in-law, Patty Cichetti. Major Clements' family was selected out of more than 800 entries received at Mealey's retail stores in Oxford Valley and Bensalem PA, Moorestown NJ, and the Distribution Center in Morrisville PA, as well as through the internet.furniture. This is just a small way to honor this special family and those who serve our country."
