Whether or not you agree that mixing dining room chairs is a "design trend" the truth is that things change; people change, and what you felt was your style 3 years ago might have evolved into something very different. Not to mention that new designs ideas pop up constantly, so it's only logical you'd want to change things up a bit. Keep in mind however, this time around, that comfort is as important as aesthetics.

Very few people think of comfort when they first purchase a dining room set, so you might have noticed that after using it, your family quickly gets up and plops on the couch. This is another reason you might want to update those side chairs and swap them for BENCHES! Benches are the "comfort food" of dining rooms. It's been proven that people feel more comfortable AND stay longer in dinner style seating, like benches or booths, meaning your children and dinner guest will stay chatting and laughing for much longer after every meal at the table and forget all about the TV!

However, because benches rarely come covered in interesting, fun fabrics, you might need to "stir the pot". Make them a "decadent comfort food" by covering them in the fabric of your choice as we discussed last week. Notice this dining set. It's not over the top in terms of decor, but it's BOLD and it offers a little something for everyone; spicy for dad, chic for mom, comfortable for kids and colorful for guests; an orchestra of style!!
