Image of a Christmas wreath on a white door.

In keeping with the Holiday theme…Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly! (or shall I say…wreaths?!)

Wreaths are just another way to accent for the season!

Long ago the tradition began of putting plants together into a circular shape to overcome the forces of winter. People also used candles, fires, evergreens, holly, berries and whatever else they could find that would enhance their interior or exteriors of the times.

The term, “Wreath”, is actually linked to the word, “wrist”. Both mean a circular shape and are symbolic of eternity, because they both have no beginning and no end. Ancient Romans actually believed decorative wreaths were a sign of victory. It is believed that this is where the hanging of wreaths on doors came from.
